President Obama

Since I consider myself a historian, I thought it would be fitting to share a bit on this significant occassion.

One thing I was thinking about: I admit it's important to acknowledge the hisorical significance of the first African-American president. But by doing so I think racism is only being reinforced. We just celebrated Martin Luthre King, Jr. a few days ago, and yet we are still making judgements based upon the color of someone's skin.

Every presidential inaguration is significant because it always involves a person.

Yet I must say that I appreciated President Obama's speech.
